Foundation Review: Loreal White Perfect Pearl

Retails for about $23 in our local mall and it has 30 ml worth of product

I got this foundation because it says on the label that it is a whitening foundation powered with whitening skincare essence and it has SPF 17/PA ++ which was good because I have a lot of hyperpigmentation from my acne scars and I was hoping to lighten those up.

It claims to blend in with you natural complexion for a non-cakey non-traceable finish and it leaves skin feeling satin smooth and hydrated all day. Well I decided to test it out and I did not like it. I put in on and I can tell that I am wearing foundation. It does not blend well to my skin and up close I can see that it kinda settled into my pores which I did not like.

The texture of the product is thick and it is almost like a gel. It does makes my skin feel smooth and from a far it looks okay but with this foundation I have to really work and buff it well to properly blend with my skin. I have oily skin and throughout the day I have noticed that got oily not only in my T-zone but also on my cheeks so it does make the foundation looks muddy on me. As far as the lightening or whitening properties of this foundation I did not notice any change in my dark spots after using it for about a week. So this product is definitely a miss for me.

This foundation may suit better those who have dry to normal skin and also for fairer skin tones because the color selection is very limited and it is more on the fairer side. It does give your a face a smooth and satin finish to it which I like. Because this product has the SPF17/PA++ it can help prevent further darkening of the spots but as to lightening i feel it doesn't do much.

As for me, I would not repurchase this product and I am just using mine up by mixing it with my Revlon colorstay foundation which surprisingly matched my skin complexion well.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel foundation Review

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I have been using this new Maybelline foundation over my summer holiday and here is my review about it.

I was specifically looking for a light drugstore foundation for the summer so I took into consideration the coverage and the packaging. I was looking for a foundation that is easy to travel with and the Maybelline foundation is just that. The way it is packaged is perfect for travelling because it comes in a plastic tube and you have to squeeze the tube in order for the product to come out.

On the actual the product it comes with a good range of shades and mine is in 22 natural beige, I swatched in the store but the shades kind of runs a bit light when you blend it so better choose the darker than your normal shade. The foundation has a water-based formula that gives the skin light and fresh sensation. It also has chamomile, aloe and Vitamin E that gives you a cool and soothing feeling once you apply the foundation on your face. I usually dot the foundation of the different parts of my face and blend and buff it with my ELF flat top kabuki brush. I think this foundation is perfect for summer because it cools your skin once you apply it. It has enough coverage to hide minor imperfections but in my case I had to use concealer because I have really bad hyperpigmentation. For those with fairly good skin this foundation is perfect for you because it is water based so it doesn't clog pores and I found that this foundation doesn't break me out which is a very big plus in my book. I also like that this foundation is fragrance free.

The only negative thing I can say about this product is that it doesn't last very long on my skin because I have really oily skin. It claims that it can control shine for all day perfect looking skin but I find myself blotting excess oil halfway through the day. This would work perfectly for people with normal to dry skin. Other than constant face blotting I really have no other problem with this foundation.

Mix and Match foundation

I have been using drugstore foundation ever since I have started wearing make-up because I can't justify paying a huge amount of money for high-end foundations that I would consume in less than a month. I have tried many drugstore foundation and I have found out that I like Revlon foundations the most. I am not saying that will I stop trying new foundations, its just that I find myself always going back to my usual Revlon foundation.

Like most drugstore foundation, Revlon foundations have limited color range and I really don't fit in any of then so I mix my own with a couple of Revlon colorstay foundation and photoready foundation. After considerable amount of trial and error, I have found the perfect foundation combination that match me. At the moment I'm mixing Revlon colorstay in 01 Ivory, Revlon colorstay in 200 Nude and Revlon photoready in 006 Medium Beige.

I like the color stay foundation because it has a matte finish and it is medium to full coverage. The photoready however is more shimmery and of light coverage, this would be perfect for night events that you would want to have extra glow to your skin. The downside of the Revlon foundation is the smell. It has a very chemically smell and at first it was really offensive but I have gotten used to it after all this time. With the colorstay foundation it also does not come with a pump, unlike the photoready one, so it is very difficult to get the foundation out without being messy. Nonetheless I still like the coverage and the finish that it gives when these foundation are mixed together. It is not too matte and not so shimmery, it is like having another layer of skin which is not heavy and greasy at all. I do recommend wearing primer under the foundation for special occasion to help the foundation last longer.

Here is a photo I took while wearing my special mix of foundation. I think it just matches my skin perfectly.
